🌹 Ruby — The One I Didn’t Hold

She whispered Ti amo, soft and true,
A blush of dawn in skies so blue.
I stood in silence, heart unsure,
Afraid of love, too vague, too pure.

I named her Ruby, gem so rare,
A soul so kind, beyond compare.
She called me hers with gentle grace,
Yet fear kept mine a hidden face.

She waited long, she gave her all,
I let her rise, I let her fall.
I’d come, then go — a restless tide,
With questions I could never hide.

Was it love? Or something near?
A warmth, a pull, a tethered fear?
Affection deep, yet undefined,
A maze of feelings in my mind.

She loved, she stayed, then chose to part,
And walked away with shattered heart.
I thought I’d freed her from my chain,
But now I wear the weight of pain.

For now I know, too late to say,
She was the light I pushed away.
She haunts my breath, my every view,
In morning mist and evening dew.

I seek her face in crowded halls,
Her voice in rain, her laugh in calls.
All I want — not gold, not fame,
Just Ruby, whispering my name.
